2025A Call for Proposals

The 2025A Call for Proposals is now open for the Guaranteed Time and Open Access categories for the period commencing in June 2025, to the end of March 2026. Due to soon to-be-scheduled site-wide maintenance being conducted by CSIRO in late May or early June, the exact commencement date for the semester will be advised in due course.

Available Array Configurations and Re-Configurations
In 2025A, proposers will be able to nominate a preferred array configuration from an initial set of options. The configurations offered have been formulated to optimise different performance figures of merit and to address different science requirements, while moderating the amount of data generated and the burden on the Operations Team.

The array configuration options for 2025A are:

• a 128T compact array (listed as “Phase II compact” on the wiki) utilising only (new) oversampled receivers, configured to maximise surface brightness sensitivity and take full advantage of the greatly improved spectral response of the oversampled receivers;

• a 128T extended array (listed as “Phase II extended” on the wiki) utilising critically sampled receivers and configured for angular resolution and UV coverage, while managing data volume;

• a 184T extended array (listed as “Phase I plus Solar” on the wiki) utilising critically sampled receivers and configured for maximum angular resolution and UV coverage, while moderately managing data volume;

• a 200T array (listed as “Phase I plus hexes” on the wiki) utilising critically sampled receivers and configured for sensitivity and UV coverage with minimal management of data volume; and

• the full 256T array (all available tiles; listed as “Full Array” on the wiki) utilising critically sampled receivers, for maximum angular resolution, maximum sensitivity, and maximum UV coverage, at the cost of maximum data volume.

Submission
Please complete the following proposal form: https://form.jotform.com/230436931661051

You can save partially completed proposals for later submission, or access your previous proposals, by creating a free jotform account.

The deadline for proposal submission is Wednesday, 30 April 2025, 5PM AWST (Australian Western Standard Time).

In addition to questions on the upgraded capabilities, any general questions regarding proposal submission can also be directed to the MWA Principal Scientist/s: scientist@mwatelescope.org
