TELESCOPE CONFIGURATIONS

Phase II

MWA Phase II, described in detail in Wayth et al. (2018), is the upgraded array deployed in 2016-2017. It consists of 128 new tiles divided into two new subsets:

  • Phase IIA, Compact Array: 72 tiles in two compact hexagons near the core for improved EoR capabilities.
  • Phase IIB, Extended Array: 56 tiles on long baselines up to 5km, for improved survey and imaging capabilities.

Note that only 128 tiles are available for correlation at any time during MWA Phase II.

The surveyed coordinates of the different array configurations can be found here (note the multiple pages within the spreadsheet): MWA Tile Coordinates.xlsx
